This week we talked about the consecration of the saints in the context of Gideon and his calling.
We spoke of obedience and the need to hold thoughts captive, also the need to examine our different standpoints in the light of holiness. When we do this we realize many of our former standpoints have changed because of the cross. Believers should have hope overall, regardless of situations.
Jn.3:36; 9:31 Ep. 5:6 Ps.44:1-8 II Ch. 7:14 Ex. 4:3-7 I Co. 6:11 Rm. 8:24-39
This week we spoke of the importance of praise as a weapon. We should make sure that the sinful things don't get rebuilt and that we move in gratitude into the land God has provided for us.
It was praise that brought the walls of Jericho down, likewise praise will tear down the walls which have held us captive so long.

Ps. 68:18 Ep. 4:8 Lk.4
This week we spoke of the prophet Deborah. We touched on a few things gender roles etc., We looked at the verses in Isaiah which say that for a nation to run by women and children is a curse according to God. The main thing we spoke of was the fact that we our faith can get misplaced in institutions, teachers or preachers. Barak was given the victory by God yet he would not go to battle without Deborah.
All the same God honored it and delivered Israel through this battle. Still, Sisera was killed by Jael and not Barak, as Deborah said would come to pass. We need prophecy still today as we are in spiritual warfare, mind you the prophecy spoken of is implying the edification,(word of knowledge, word of wisdom) spoken in I Corinthians 12-14.
We then spoke of "Through faith..." Hebrews 11:28

Gn. 35:8 Jd. 2:14 Is. 3:1-12 He, 11:28-40
This week we spoke of holiness, and living blameless before God. Judges and judgment are good for society, contrary to popular church teaching and thinking. We discussed the parallels of Joshua and looked into his leadership. Society needs leaders but ultimately the decision to obey God or not lies squarely on each of our shoulders.
