Jeremiah had a fire shut up in his bones when he wanted to quit preaching he couldn't. The love of God is a great burden. Jesus said we are to lay down our lives for our brethren. The cross we are to carry is painful, cumbersome and we can only endure it by resting in Christ alone. This is why idolatry is such a wicked thing it is the highest form of robbery. We are robbed of our impact on others as we have no real testimony. This is what Paul spoke of as a form of godliness. The Corinthians were drawn to Christ not by persuasive words but by power! David was struck with grief over the death of Saul as God's anointed. Moses interceded for the people when God wanted to destroy them and start over, this shows the heart of a man of God. Israel thought they were God's people that He would never make good on His Word to punish them for their sin. They chose to listen to their false prophets who told them as they wanted to hear. God sees all and will hold us accountable for each part. There are many degrees of warning that God gives if someone's sin has gone public you can be sure he dealt with them privately without result.
We don't have to hit the bottom before we begin to listen. If we listen life will improve. Will you seek God while He is near? This was recorded 8/29/2018 Notes: Is. 47:7-10; Jr. 13:15-18;38; Dn. 9:12-14; Dt. 28:43,48, 68 |
